The history of the Taj Hotels is a very attention-grabbing one. It is said that on sooner or later at the tip of the nineteenth century, the influential Jamsetji Tata took his foreign friend to have lunch at Watson building (Another attention-grabbing historical building that lies simply ten minutes faraway from the present location of Taj Mahal Palace & Tower). But he was denied entry merely as a result of he wasn't a eu. Hence he formed the plan of building a building deserve the town, which would attracts Europeans, Indians and people of all races (which it still does).
The city of Mumbai had recently been blasted in 1890’s as a result of plague. This worked as a catalyst for J. N. Tata to build the Taj Mahal Palace.

The architects made positive that the building stands to its name and well fits the description of “Palace Hotel”.In 1898, the foundations 40 linear unit deep were arranged on one area unit of land and on this rose a large building flanked by 2 wings, creating a place for big yard. A six stories building with a central dome, with a design made on a grand scale incorporating Indo-Saracenic design, with Victorian Gothic and Romanesque details, With balconies on every floor, with Edwardian touches on the roof. With balconies on every floor, fancy woodwork of every kind, ornamental spikes and beauty windows like mashrabiya casements of Arab homes has created several travelers wanting at this building thoughtful.
